SMART BAR RESIDENTS PRESENT THE MIRROR BALL: A NEW YEAR’S EVE EXTRAVAGANZA – ON SALE SATURDAY

This New Year’s Eve, join Smart Bar’s resident DJs for a very special night – The Mirror Ball: A New Year’s Eve Extravaganza. Featuring Justin Long (Senior Resident, Hugo Ball), Michael Serafini (Queen!), Jeff Derringer (Oktave), Olin (Slack, We Still Believe), and Harry & Jpeg (Savages, Men’s Room), The Mirror Ball will be a night of the club’s best residents ringing in 2015 and reminding the audience just why Smart Bar’s residencies are the best in the city.

Tickets for this event are on sale this Saturday September 27 at noon at online at smartbarchicago.com/etix.com and in person at the Metro Store. General admission tickets are $35 advance, $40 day of show. Reserved seating tickets are $80 and include reserved seating, gift bag and six drink tickets.

A wide variety of DJs bring the philosophy and passion of Smart Bar’s residency program together in one room for one night, including sets by –

Harry and Jpeg are residents with Savages and Men’s Room. The minds behind the popular Men’s Room residency, they recently helped kick off Savages, a new residency for Smart Bar this fall and continuing into 2015.

Olin represents the Slack and We Still Believe residences. A Kansan by birth, Chicagoan by privilege, Olin has been quietly offering up his unique and varied take on dance music. With several recent releases on respected labels such as Argot, Discovery, God Particle, and more, Olin has been gathering momentum with his productions, which range from deep tech house to italo disco. His DJ sets offer the same dynamic variety and are often long-haul affairs. He is a resident DJ at Smart Bar in Chicago and one half of Trustus (with The Black Madonna).

Jeff Derringer take the decks on behalf of the Oktave residency. Blending a propulsive beat with noise, oblique melodies and a healthy dose of kick drum, Jeff’s unique brand of techno comes from decades spent as a drummer, multi-instrumentalist and technologist. Live, Jeff uses Ableton and Maschine to present a hybrid set that weaves loops, tracks and samples together to the point where the listener cannot distill one from the other. He is the resident and curator of Oktave, an event series that focuses on the world’s best underground techno talent.

Michael Serafini represents Sunday night residency Queen. As one of the head managers and buyers at Gramaphone Records since 1995, and now owner of the store, Michael Serafini’s influence on the Chicago scene cannot be understated.  In addition to his devotion and diligence in providing Chicago music fans and working DJs with great music, he is a DJ himself and provides the foundation for Smart Bar’s popular weekly DJ night Queen.

Justin Long is Smart Bar’s Senior Resident and Hugo Ball residency co-founder. Justin has been abusing sound systems as a DJ around the world for nearly two decades. Known for his aggressive energy and unique vibe behind the decks, Justin doesn’t just provide music as the DJ, he almost mystically paints a vivid atmosphere for the best, most amazing party you can imagine. Of late, the epitome of that most amazing party has been the Smart Bar monthly residency and dance floor ritual Hugo Ball. Conceived by the Hugo Ball Troupe and championed by Justin, the monthly event is part of a larger Chicago and American house music renaissance that has been capturing the world’s imagination. For many of the dancers assembling there, Hugo Ball is a return to the values which made Chicago’s club and underground dance scene a standard in the cannon of American Music.

Join Smart Bar residents for a night out at what is sure to be one of the most delightfully surprising parties anywhere this New Year’s Eve. Tickets are on sale now!
